Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
This Sunday, August 17, we will be gathering together together for Mass and and to go for a bike ride on the Jacksonville Rail Trail (https://www.traillink.com/trail/jacksonville-baldwin-rail-trail.aspx). We will be gathering together for the 10am Mass at Assumption Catholic Church and afterwards going out nearby for a light lunch (restaurant to be discussed after Mass). Afterwards we will be making the 15 minute trip to the start of the trail. Plan on being there by around 12:30pm. The trail itself is a paved, wood trail going from Jacksonville to Baldwin and is nearly a 15 mile, one way trail.
For those who wish to meet up for Mass, I will be sitting in the front, left hand section of the church, meeting up just outside of the doors leading to the Adoration Chapel before we head to lunch and will be meeting at the beginning of the trail after lunch.
Please consider bringing some of the following:
Bike (please send a shout out if you have an extra bike or need a bike and we all will see how we can help).
Plenty of water.
Hat
Sun screen
Glasses
Bug repellant
Comfortable clothes (for those that need to change out of their Sunday finest, figure we can do so at Assumption before departing, doubting there will be an appropriate place to change once we get to the trail)
Closed toe shoes
We will be biking for as long and as far as everyone wishes. And if you don't have a bike, and if there is a group who wishes to do so (biking be primary focus), hiking will be acceptable.
Provided below is directions from Assumption to the Rail Trail and also general directions from downtown Jacksonville to the Rail trail.
