This Thursday at Emmaus, Father Andy Blaszkowski from the Cathedral in St. Augustine, will speak to us and lead us in discussion, as we continue with our Sacramental theme, on "Mary, Mother of the Eucharist."
With one of the great feast days to Our Lady, this Saturday, the day when we celebrate and honor the bodily Assumption of Mary into Heaven, we thought it only fitting to honor our dear Mother at Emmaus as well! Churches throughout the world often house the relics of Saints and Martyrs for the faith. Their burial places are honored, yet there is no place where Christians can go to pay honor to Mary in this way (with relics) - why? Because she was assumed into heaven, body and soul! She was (and is) completely FULL of grace, and therefore without stain of sin, completely submissive to His will and completely available for God's grace and power to be a mighty source of life and strength within her. She is the most perfect of mothers, tender and compassionate, yet fiercely protective of her children, and always humbly giving glory and pointing the way to her Son. What a treasure Christ has given us by giving us His Mother!
In Christ,
Jennifer and the Emmaus Core Team (Sean, Paul, Joe, Peggy)
